A Drunk on Lack of Sleep Day Out

After the long night of watching friendly matches on TV. Highlighted by Portugal's win over Spain 4-0 yay. And Iker taking his shorts off. And then blabbering on this blog and Twitter. A girl must go out and seek some breakfast, mustn't she? And so I did. I went to Flapjacks, which is a place I have been wanting to try since forever now.

The decoration was whatever and the place looks old although it was opened only a few months back. I didn't like the menu-printed-on-the-table-thingy. And the place was racist. Yes, you heard me RACIST!

How come white people are white and other races are green. The lighting might be bad but I assure you both were green. We were thinking that probably the darker green is black and the lighter one is Saudi people. Since in other posters the light green person was wearing a thobe. And let's face it Saudi people are not white. That's not very racist right? We all just want to be represented with our right colors. Because I never saw green people walking down the street or maybe I did. Green of jealousy from my awesomeness perhaps? OK I'll go die somewhere.

But the other racist thing is how come the yellow hands are the biggest? HAAAAAA? I would like no, I demand equal sizes to all hands of all the colors. I feel like Martin Luther King. xD

Enough boozie boozie talk. Now let's get to the food. Listen to me folks and listen carefully. I will only say this once. When you are at a pancake place, order what? PANCAKES! Don't go all cleaver like me and order waffles. Because if their waffles are good they would probably be calling the place Flapjacks & Waffles House. Seriously, their waffles SUCK!

Berry Waffles

Since my food sucked I ate my sisters Kinder Pancakes and they were yumm. And the Seattle Mocha I ordered was absolute yumm.

Then I went to Debenhams to pick up something and I probably found the most ugliest piece of clothing EVER! TA DA DA DAH!

Yes, the sleeves are acid washed denim!

Isn't it refreshing? The low quality of my pictures? I'm probably the only person in the world who didn't go all pro all of a sudden. Actually this is me being all awesome photographer. You don't see a thumb covering the lens do ya? xD

Girls Night Out

Yesterday I went out with 2 of my football-Portugal-Cristiano-fans-friends to watch what other than the match between Brazil and Portugal. We went to Campioni Sports Cafe. It's a hot exclusive spot to watch the world cup here in Jeddah. Definitely a must go for you football freaks. Though you must buy your tickets a few days before the match you desire to watch that is if you don't want to shed sweat blood and tears to get it, like we did.

We painted our faces in red and green in solidarity with Portugal. Most of the people there were Brazil fans except a bunch of women in the ground floor that kept screaming with US. The screaming is very confusing. The guy who was rooting for Brazil kept screaming out of terror and sometimes joy and we would get confused as to if we saw something different. Plus that dude brought his kids and dressed them all in Brazil shirts. A sight very sore to the eye. Then there was the not so sore, yummy bunny Cristiano *sigh*. He looked so CUTE. But he did get on our nerves a little bit. Why doesn't he chase the fucking ball? He gives up so easily. At least that's what we think. I don't think he should have been awarded Man of the Match. But hey he's happy, I'm happy. xD

More pictures here.

Fun facts about the menu, they have a hookah named after Cristiano. Shitty thing I don't smoke that thing. Why couldn't they make him a desert so I would eat him? *pout*
And the food was named after football teams. Real Madrid was basal pasta. I wasn't in the mood for it and I'm not that obsessed with Cristiano so I passed. I got an AC Roma burger which I'm not sure if it's a combination between AC Milan and AS Roma? Or if there is actually a team called that? :/

Pity we can't go watch Germany kicks England's ass tomorrow cuz we must study for our fnals. Or maybe it's a good thing? Cuz both of my friends are with England and we are very hot blooded people, whom takes football VERY seriously. And Obviously our friendship is much more important :P

Good luck Germany. Make me proud boys XOXO.

Maggiano's

Today after the stupid midterm, I went with my friend S to this relatively new restaurant, Maggiano's.

I heard such great reviews about it. One even said it is the best food in Jeddah. But I must say its name gave me such a hard time. Everyone pronounce it very differently. It was seriously confusing. So I decided when I go, I'll ask the waiters how do they pronounce it? But I forgot. :/

The place was deserted. Only one couple when we arrived. I didn't like that. But hey it is the middle of the week, which means Jeddah is almost a ghost town. I liked the decor. Red and black. Cosy and romantic.

Now the food, I ordered the Maggiano's salad, meat balls sandwich, some kind of a kiwi mojito and for desert tiramisu. The food for me was not so good. There was this weird, brown, very hard thing in the salad that made me choke a couple of times. The sandwich wasn't even close to yummy but the bread was heaven. The mojito was just OK. But on the other hand -thank God- the tiramisu was perfect.

The bitten tiramisu

Stupid thing happened when we asked for the bill. A Saudi waiter who wasn't our waiter, came up to us and asked "since you are doctors do you have panadol?". Cuz apparently doctors are moving pharmacies?

The thing about its location is, it is very lovely and strategic on AL Tahlia street but kinda of cursed. Yup doomed to fail. As far as I remember, first it was Pizza Express. Which was a nice place that served decent pizza, that even at some days you could make your own. The place was always basically dead so it closed. And Nandoos opened instead. I like Nandoos. it serves chicken. What's not to like? But somehow no one went there and the place closed soon after. Now Maggiano's. Will it break the spell and live happily ever after? Or will it be turned to a pharmacy that sells panadol extra?

I think it is safe to say that Maggiano's is no where near being the best place in Jeddah. I totally recommend Ill Gusto for a better Italian dining experience. Smaller, far less elegant but the food is Yum!
